Hanging off a cliff…

When we showed up to this property we couldn’t believe how close the destruction had gotten to the edge of the deck on the lakeside. We arrived just in time to save this house from being lost. This definitely took some time and skill to properly plan this project out. When discussing the plans with the customer we knew they were an active family who would need lake access and plenty of room to haul watercraft toys in and out of the lake. The best reinforcement for this project would start with a wooden crib which holds up the best on this portion of the lake, backfill that with riprap, then build a two-tiered wall which included the splash wall to give the waves a place to wash through, rather than eroding the property. The 6ft wide inset staircase is the highlight of this project as it allows for such easy access in and out of the lake while still being protected from the waves.

Our staircases are just built different…

You won’t find our staircases floating up on someone’s property! We allow for the passage of water underneath the stairs with another crib. We aren’t trying to stop the water, we just need to slow it down and allow for a place to exit.
